Jennifer Godoy: Scholarships Offer a Private Education Journey to Success

Jennifer Godoy

Jennifer was born in El Salvador and her family moved to the United States when she was very young. Because her parents wanted Jennifer to be able to thrive and succeed in life, they sought a private education that would honor their heritage, but also challenge her academically. They found Escuela de Guadalupe.

“My mom had to work two jobs and my dad was a mechanic,” recalls Jennifer. “I know they did everything they could to make sure I got a quality private education. I also know that Escuela helped my family with scholarships, helping to make it affordable for us.”

When Jennifer completed 5th grade at Escuela, the school did not yet have a middle school, so she applied for and received a Challenge Foundation scholarship to St. Mary’s Academy, which she attended through high school. From there, Jennifer received a full-ride scholarship to the University of San Francisco. She earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and international studies, and she later earned her master’s degree in economics and global management while studying in Barcelona and Taiwan. Today, Jennifer works at PwC in Digital Activation and Customer Success.

Full Circle: Jennifer recently joined the Escuela de Guadalupe Board of Trustees. “This is a great opportunity for me to give back to a community that helped shape me into who I am today.”
