Denver, CO – On Saturday, October 5, Escuela de Guadalupe shattered past fundraising efforts to raise $614,675 during its annual event, Salud.
“I could not be more thrilled,” said Escuela President Michelle Galuszka. “This year, we are celebrating 25 years of providing outstanding dual-language Catholic education to Denver families. Our partners and friends really showed up to celebrate with us. It’s overwhelming and inspiring.”
“Hot Ticket”
Held in the Jack & Judy Pottle Gymnasium at Escuela, the Salud event has become known as a hot ticket. This year, tickets sold out months in advance and the school formed a waiting list. The event features a tequila ring toss, live mariachi band, open bars, and, for the first time ever this year, an after-party with a D.J.
“Once people get to know Escuela de Guadalupe, they want to get involved,” said Caroline Orr, Director of Philanthropy. “We have an incredible school, doing important work. And, of course, they also come because Salud is a great party!”

Every year, the school bestows the Father Tom Prag, S.J., Service Award on someone who has made a significant impact on the school’s history and mission. This year’s recipient was David Card, who was the first president of Escuela de Guadalupe. Today, Card is President of Regis Jesuit High School.

“It was the perfect year to celebrate David’s work at the school during its early years, helping to set us on a successful path to get where we are today,” said Galuszka. “Now, thanks to our generous donors, we get to start planning the next 25.”
Escuela de Guadalupe is an independent, dual-language, Catholic school of excellence for grades Pre-K through 8th. It serves a diverse community of families from around the Denver metro area, with the goal of accepting all students who are committed to a rigorous education, no matter their family’s financial situation.
