Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Escuela de Guadalupe unique?

Escuela de Guadalupe is Denver’s only dual-language, Catholic school of academic excellence. Since 1999, we’ve provided a rigorous education in English and Spanish for students from Pre-K through 8th grade. Our program fosters academic achievement, bilingualism, faith formation, and leadership skills in a racially, economically, and geographically diverse community.

Our graduates consistently outperform Denver Public Schools and Colorado averages, and they leave ready for honors and AP courses in high school—and beyond.

We serve a racially, economically, and geographically diverse student body. Our mission is to ensure all children—regardless of background—receive an excellent bilingual Catholic education.

We serve students from Pre-Kindergarten (age 4) through 8th grade:

  • Pre-K and Kindergarten: By utilizing the best practices in early childhood instruction, Escuela de Guadalupe’s Pre-K and Kindergarten programs nurture foundational learning skills in students and immerse them in a second language during the developmental stage when language learning is at its peak.
  • 1st through 5th Grade: Escuela de Guadalupe’s elementary school program develops students’ bilingual academic proficiency across the curriculum. In 1st grade, students start building a strong foundation in their native language through targeted literacy instruction. They develop their second language skills through instruction in math, science, and social studies. Students then transition to equal study in both languages in 3rd grade, at which point they spend half of their day in their native language and half in their developing language. Supported by our entirely bilingual teaching staff (many of whom hold degrees from Latin American countries) students routinely achieve grade-level biliteracy across all subjects by 3rd grade. Elementary school students also participate in art, music, and PE classes.
  • 6th – 8th Grade: Escuela de Guadalupe’s middle school program is designed to build on students’ academic achievement through mastery of core content. It also helps them develop the socioemotional competencies and organizational skills needed to thrive in college-preparatory high school environments and beyond. Escuela’s vertical friendships—an intentional cultivation of authentic interactions between children in our Middle School, Pre-K, and-K-5 programs—give our older students the opportunity to develop their compassionate leadership skills, and expanded community service activities help deepen students’ commitment to social justice.
