Escuela de Guadalupe’s elementary school program develops students’ bilingual academic proficiency across the curriculum. In 1st grade, students start building a strong foundation in their native language through targeted literacy instruction. They develop their second language skills through instruction in math, science, and social studies. Students then transition to equal study in both languages in 3rd grade, at which point they spend half of their day in their native language and half in their developing language. Supported by our entirely bilingual teaching staff (many of whom hold degrees from Latin American countries) students routinely achieve grade-level biliteracy across all subjects by 3rd grade. Elementary school students also participate in art, music, and PE classes.
Escuela de Guadalupe students consistently outperform Denver Public Schools students, and students from across Colorado.

All Escuela students – from Pre-K
through 8th grade – are in school
for extended days, enabling more
learning for students, and more
flexibility for parents.

Classes are offered in a 50/50 model in English and Spanish. Students are
bilingual by 3rd grade.

Starting in 5th grade, students may participate in the Catholic Schools
Athletic League (CSAL) in cross country, volleyball, futsal, and basketball.
3rd and 4th grade students
may participate in Widgets.

Our faith formation includes
religion class, weekly mass, and the opportunity to participate in First Communion and
Confirmation preparation.

5th grade students attend an end-
of-year mountain retreat at Calwood Education Center. This retreat is a
capstone for our elementary Catholic education experience.
