Escuela de Guadalupe’s Updated Logo

Escuela de Guadalupe logo
This is the school's updated 2026 logo. It is an illustration of a boy and a girl (rendered in green and orange) with a purple swoop behind them. It includes the words, "Escuela de Guadalupe Est. 1999 Denver, CO"

Big news! We updated our logo!

Escuela de Guadalupe is 27 years old this year (we’re pushing 30!), and it was high time we refreshed our brand just a bit. Here is the story behind the update, including a few details that you probably did not know about our original logo.

An Evolution, Not a Reinvention

The first question our team asked when we began this project was simple: how much should actually change? We wanted our logo to feel current and polished, but we did not want an overhaul so dramatic that it would send us scrambling to replace signage, letterhead, uniforms, and printed materials all at once. That kind of jarring rebrand can be disruptive and expensive.

Instead, we approached this as a gradual step forward. The core of our identity – the two children, the swirling cape, the color palette – all remain intact. What has changed is the craftsmanship behind it: cleaner lines, dimensional shading, and a more polished finish. Because the update builds on the original rather than replacing it, our school can phase in the new version naturally on new materials as they are produced, rather than needing to retire everything overnight.

A Nod to Our Lady of Guadalupe

One detail that often goes unnoticed even by longtime families is the meaning behind the purple cape that sweeps behind the two children in our logo. That shape is not just a decorative swirl. It is a deliberate reference to the cloak of Our Lady of Guadalupe, down to the stars scattered across it, which echo the stars traditionally depicted on her mantle.

It is a small design choice, but it ties our everyday branding back to the namesake and mission of our school. Every time that cape appears on a folder, a flyer, or a social media post, it carries a piece of our Catholic identity with it. The refreshed logo keeps this symbolism fully intact. We simply rendered it with more depth and dimension.

Retiring the ‘Fork,’ Welcoming a Pigtail

Not every update is deeply symbolic. Some of it is just practical, and honestly, a little funny. For years, one detail of the original logo drew good-natured comments from staff and parents alike: a small design element on the little girl’s head that many people affectionately (or not so affectionately) referred to as “the fork.” It was never intended to look like silverware, but once someone points it out, it is hard to unsee.

It was one of the top items on our wish list for this refresh. In the updated version, that same detail now reads clearly as a pigtail, which is what it was always meant to represent.

Finally, a Complete Set of Files

Here is a detail that will matter more to our marketing team than to most families, but it is worth sharing: our previous logo was old enough that we did not have all the technical formats a school needs in today’s marketing landscape. Certain sizes, file types, and color variations simply did not exist, which made consistent branding across our website, print materials, and social channels more difficult than it should have been.

As part of this refresh, we now have a complete library to work from: a primary logo, favicons for our website and browser tabs, standalone icon marks, and compact submarks for tight spaces like social media avatars. Whether we are updating escuelaguadalupe.org, printing a banner for an open house, or posting on Instagram, we now have the right file for the job. It is not the most exciting part of a logo refresh, but it is one of the most useful.

The Logo Colors Stay Exactly the Same

If there is one part of our identity that was never up for debate, it was color. Escuela’s vibrant purple, green, orange, and yellow palette is instantly recognizable across our community, and we kept it fully intact. The refreshed logo simply presents those same colors with richer gradients and more dimension, giving the mark a more contemporary, polished feel without losing the energy families have come to associate with our school.

A Logo Design That Grows With Us

Beyond the details above, this refresh also sets Escuela up for the future in a few practical ways. The updated logo now includes our founding year and Denver location directly in the mark, reinforcing at a glance that we are right here in Denver. The additional pastel and monochrome variants also give our team far more flexibility for social graphics, spirit wear, and print pieces than the original logo ever allowed.

What This Logo Means for Our Community

You will start to see the refreshed logo appear gradually across our website, social media, and new printed materials in the coming months. Existing signage, uniforms, and print stock will be phased out naturally rather than replaced all at once. We are excited to carry this updated mark forward, and even more excited that it still carries the same history, symbolism, and spirit that have defined Escuela de Guadalupe since 1999.
