We are thrilled to announce that Sandra Reese has been named Assistant Principal of Escuela de Guadalupe. She will step into her new role on July 1, 2026.
If you’ve been part of the Escuela community for any length of time, you likely already know Sandra. She joined the school just one year after it opened its doors and has spent the last 25 years growing alongside our students, families, and colleagues. Over that time, she has served in nearly every corner of our school community: as a paraprofessional, literacy tutor, Graduate Support Program Director, Student Services coordinator, middle school religion teacher, and most recently, as a 3rd grade dual-language teacher.
“I’m excited to keep building relationships with teachers, students, and families,” Sandra says. “I love supporting teachers and seeing them grow, and making sure students feel known and challenged. Building relationships with families is really important to me too, because together we’re creating a strong foundation for their child’s future. I truly believe that’s why you see graduates coming back to Escuela with their own children. It says a lot about the strength of the Escuela community.”
Sandra’s career at Escuela reflects the full breadth of what our mission requires. She has implemented dual-language instruction across core academic areas, guided students through high school and college transitions, coordinated scholarship support with partners including the Daniels Fund and the Porter-Billups Leadership Program, and prepared students for the sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation. She has also served on our Discipline Committee and has long been a trusted liaison between families and the school. In a recent profile on teacher retention, Sandra reflected on what keeps her at Escuela: “Our parents know we want their children to succeed. They feel it. They believe it. And that trust — their trust — is what keeps me coming back.”
Principal Mariella Robledo remarked on Sandra’s unique qualifiers for this role: “What makes Sandra exceptional isn’t just her experience. It’s that she has lived every dimension of our mission. She’s been a tutor, a teacher, a counselor to families, and a champion for our graduates. As Assistant Principal, she brings that same whole-child, whole-family perspective to our entire school community, and I couldn’t be more excited to work alongside her in this new capacity.”
Sandra added, “This feels like the right next step for me because I’m ready to grow my impact and support the school in a bigger way,” she says. “I really enjoy working alongside teachers and helping them grow, and I like using data in ways that actually feel useful and practical. I also care a lot about Catholic education and dual-language learning. Ultimately, it all comes back to making sure our students are ready for college-prep high schools, and that’s something I feel strongly about right now.”
Please join us in congratulating Miss Sandra on her new role at Escuela de Guadalupe.
