Escuela de Guadalupe selects Dr. Nicky Freeburg as new President

Denver, CO – [April 16, 2025] – The Board of Trustees of Escuela de Guadalupe is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Nicky Freeburg as the school’s new President. Dr. Freeburg brings a wealth of experience in Catholic education, bilingual instruction, and community engagement, aligning seamlessly with Escuela de Guadalupe’s mission to provide an academically excellent, Catholic education in English and Spanish to cultivate the next generation of community leaders.

Dr. Freeburg holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Gonzaga University, where her capstone project focused on implementing executive functioning content in high school bridge programs. She also earned a Master of Arts in Education from Regis University and a Bachelor of Arts in English with minors in Spanish and Peace & Justice from the same institution. Additionally, she attended Regis Jesuit High School. Her academic journey, rooted entirely in Catholic education, reflects her deep commitment to faith-based learning.

Professionally, Dr. Freeburg has demonstrated a strong dedication to educational excellence and student support. She currently serves as Assistant Principal at Escuela de Guadalupe, where she collaborates on curriculum development, faculty formation, and community relations. Prior to this role, she was the Director of Academic Support at Arrupe Jesuit High School, managing tiered systems of academic support and leading teams to assist struggling students. Her career began as an English teacher at Arrupe Jesuit High School, where she also provided executive functioning coaching to students.

Escuela de Guadalupe, founded in 1999, is Denver’s only dual-language Catholic school of academic excellence, serving students from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. The school is renowned for its commitment to bilingual education, cultural diversity, and academic rigor. With a low student-to-teacher ratio of 12:1 and over $1.4 million in annual scholarships offered, Escuela de Guadalupe ensures personalized attention and accessibility for its diverse student body. Notably, 93% of its alumni are accepted into their first-choice high schools, and 97% graduate from high school and pursue higher education.

Dr. Freeburg’s appointment marks a significant step in Escuela de Guadalupe’s ongoing mission to empower students through bilingual, faith-based education. Her leadership is expected to further enhance the school’s impact in the Denver community and beyond.
