Now in her fourth year as part of the Escuela de Guadalupe team, our favorite secretary took a minute to talk to us about what she was like in elementary school, why she loves her job, and what she get's up to on days when she's not at the front desk.
Where are you originally from?
I am originally from Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua. I came to the U.S. when I was five.
When you were in elementary school, what was your "dream job?"
My dream job (believe it or not!) was to be a teacher but as I got older I became fascinated by law, police enforcement, judges, etc. Now my goal is to become a lawyer. In the meantime though, I have been looking into private investigation.
When I was in elementary school, I was quiet but I spoke my mind and I was always loved by my teachers. In high school I developed such a love of debate and got so much enjoyment out of good, healthy arguments, that my teacher started calling me the devil's advocate.
When/why did you become part of the Escuela de Guadalupe staff?
I officially joined Escuela de Guadalupe four years ago, when our current 3rd Graders were just entering Kindergarten and Alexis (my son) was in 1st Grade. Even before I was employed at Escuela, I served as a volunteer, which is how I learned about the formal position.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is being able to interact with the students and being able to provide them with a hug or band-aid when needed.
What do you like to do outside of work? Any favorite sports or hobbies?
Outside of work, I love to dance. I go out some weekends just to dance. I also do kickboxing almost on a daily basis and I love to read.
